Bio
So, you want to know about me. Well…
I began my study of music at age 12. At first studying drums with local teachers, I gathered an understanding of drumset, chart reading and an introduction to classical percussion. Later, in High School, I attended New England Conservatory Preparatory School. There, I gained a greater understanding of orchestral percussion including Marimba, Vibraphone and Timpani. The focus was exclusively on classical percussion.
In 1980, I attended Boston University School for the Arts. Later, I transferred to Berklee College of music, where I completed my BA degree in Music Performance.
I have been performing professionally (i.e. getting paid) since the age of fourteen. I have played in Orchestras, Theatrical Productions, Jazz big bands, Jazz Combos, Rock, Folk and Latin original and cover bands. My philosophy of playing revolves around being well rounded. I strive to be good at all styles of music, rather than being a pioneer at any one style. In a nutshell, I believe that I can get more work, and have more fun with a well-rounded approach than with a narrow one.
Most of the work I do these days is in the Christian Music Scene, but I recently spent time playing in an amazing band called BlueFire and have done some work with my good friend Galo Rivera.
I also do select recording projects from my home studio for folks that need great sounding acoustic drum tracks. You can learn more about that on my Gear page.
